Estimate and order ingredients and supplies based on menu demand and product mix. Maintain accurate inventory records, including transfers, repairs, sales, and waste tracking. Prepare and order quick-bake, grab-and-go, and heat-and-serve food items suitable for the cafe environment. Take and manage catering orders, coordinating preparation and timely delivery for zoo-related events and functions. Ensure all areas, including floors and equipment, are cleaned to Alberta Health Services (AHS) standards. Regularly inspect all equipment and facilities; schedule and coordinate repairs or maintenance as needed. Foster a culture of collaboration and open, two-way communication among team members. Actively promote and understand the cafe menu items, making recommendations to customers and staff as needed. Ensure strict compliance with Alberta Health and Safety regulations, food service codes, and liquor laws. Prepare monthly operational reports, including feedback and recommendations for service, menu, or efficiency improvements. Promptly address and resolve customer concerns or complaints with professionalism and care. Lead by example by maintaining a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture that reflects the values of the Valley Zoo Development Society and Edmonton Valley Zoo.
