Overview

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Attendant for Edmonton Sports centre to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, preparing food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in food service and hospitality within a dynamic setting. Prior restaurant or food industry experience is preferred but not required; we value enthusiasm, reliability, and a positive attitude. The position involves working in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and strong communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve a variety of food and beverages according to established standards Operate POS systems, including Micros POS, for order processing and cash handling Manage customer orders efficiently while providing friendly and attentive service Handle cash transactions accurately and process payments using POS systems Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, including food prep stations and dining spaces Ensure food safety standards are upheld at all times, including proper food handling and sanitation procedures Assist with upselling menu items to enhance customer experience and increase sales Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation throughout shifts

Skills

Experience in food preparation, food service, or restaurant environments preferred Proficiency with POS systems, especially Micros POS, for cashiering and order management Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally Knowledge of food safety standards and proper sanitation practices Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently during busy hours Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Kitchen experience or familiarity with the food industry is a plus Upselling techniques to promote menu items effectively Dependability, positive attitude, and willingness to learn new skills
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00-$16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
