As a component of this strategy, we have an exciting opportunity based out of our Winnipeg office for a CAD / Civil 3D Designer to join our Manitoba / Northwest Ontario Regional Team.


Role Specifics





Producing quality engineering drawings is a key part of this position and integral to our business. As such, we are looking for an individual who enjoys working in a team environment, is organized, creative, takes pride in workmanship, and has attention to detail.



The individual will be expected to have a working knowledge and background of CAD/Civil 3D Design software with the ability to grow skill sets to support a wide array of projects in the core areas of land development, water/wastewater, and municipal engineering, including but not limited to road design, design of linear infrastructure systems (storm, sanitary and water), stormwater management, grading and drainage projects.


Working under the guidance of project engineers, managers and management staff across the company to develop design skills and ensure design quality standards are met. Supporting senior engineers and project managers in the production of preliminary and detailed design drawings including plan and profile drawings, site plans, etc. Coordinating, preparing, combining, and compiling the full drawing set amongst the various engineering disciplines both in-house and from external sub consultants. Collaborating with and contributing to multi-office design teams to ensure project delivery successfully meets the needs of clients. Provide engineering support to multi-discipline project teams, as needed. Undertaking quantity take-offs and assisting in the development of design quantities. Supporting construction inspectors in the field and contract administrators in the office with responding to contractor questions/request for clarification. Other duties as assigned.

Professional Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications




Civil / Environmental / Construction Management design-related education (diploma) OR a certificate / diploma in computer drafting (AutoCAD and/or CIVIL 3D) OR equivalent combination of relevant education and experience will be considered. CAD/Civil 3D Designer with a minimum of 2 years experience. Strong computer design skills with experience and a passion for AutoCAD and CIVIL 3D Strong analytical and time management skills Excellent organization skills with the ability to multi-task and work on a number of projects concurrently Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft 365 and related Office Suite of programs (i.e., Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc.) and portable document format (PDF) editing software. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills (written/verbal). Exceptional commitment to customer service with a strong sense of urgency. Strong attention to detail with high ethical standards.

The following experience and skills are considered assets:



Experience with vertical (pumping stations, treatment facilities) and horizontal (pipes) municipal infrastructure design, project management, contract administration and client relationships is an asset but not a requirement Experience with BIM, REVIT and MicroStation
