As a CAD Technologist - Civil/Environmental Design, you will join our Guelph, Ontario office to work collaboratively with our Water Resources and Civil Engineering teams. As the successful candidate, you will work with a diverse team of fluvial geomorphologists, water resource engineers and ecologists on a variety of water and infrastructure related projects providing design and drafting support for project delivery. The ideal candidate will have working experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D, with respect to their application in earthworks, stream restoration and drainage related projects. Experience with habitat restoration and performing topographic surveys would be an asset. Responsibilities are as follows:

• Working collaboratively in a team-based environment with engineers, geomorphologists and ecologists on a wide range of design projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
• Producing plan, profile, section and detail drawings for projects related to natural channel design, stormwater management, flood risk/mitigation and other water resources related infrastructure.
• Work on full life span of design projects from conceptual design to post construction drawing preparation
• Preparing construction drawings and tender packages, including material quantity calculations
• Merging data sets (including surfaces and surveys) in AutoCAD from multiple sources
• Designing and preparing construction phasing and sediment and erosion control drawings
• Occasionally assisting in collection of field and topographic data, specifically geomorphic and water resources datasets
• Other duties as required, such as soil and water quality sampling and ecology field studies

What We Are Looking For

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Design, Drafting Technology, GIS Technology, Water Resources or equivalent
• 2-3 years of relevant experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred
• Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D, and the ability to complete design drafting work with minimal supervision
• High attention to detail
• Experience preparing detailed design and construction drawings in AutoCAD
• Experience with survey tools and standard techniques, including, total station, GPS, and RTK
• Experience working with rivers, lakes, drainage systems, and civil infrastructure
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, regulations, drawings and job specifications
• Superior technical and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and execute multiple assignments simultaneously
• Self-motivated, possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills;
• Have a professional, collaborative approach, and the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team providing outstanding client-focused service
• A valid drivers license with no restrictions
• Experience with Bentley MicroStation is considered an asset
