A well-established architectural millwork company in the Toronto East End is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cabinetmaker to join our shop team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional with a minimum of 4 years of experience in custom cabinetry and architectural millwork, including machining, assembly, and finishing of high-end projects. Key Responsibilities:
- Operate woodworking machinery such as panel saws, CNC routers, edge banders, jointers, and planers.
- Machine and assemble architectural millwork components including cabinetry, panels, moldings, and curved elements.
- Read and interpret detailed shop drawings and specifications to ensure precision and adherence to design.
- Fabricate products using plastic laminates, solid wood, veneers, and composite materials.
- Perform layout, fitting, gluing, clamping, sanding, and assembly of custom cabinetry and millwork pieces.
- Work collaboratively with shop staff, project managers, and engineers to ensure timely production and installation readiness.
- Maintain quality control standards throughout fabrication to ensure flawless fit and finish.
- Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment following lean manufacturing principles.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in architectural millwork and cabinet manufacturing.
- Proficient in both machining and assembly of cabinetry and custom millwork.
- Strong understanding of woodworking techniques and materials including laminates, veneers, hardwoods, and sheet goods.
- Proven ability to fabricate both straight and curved millwork components.
- Experience working from detailed shop drawings and understanding of tolerances and joinery techniques.
- Hands-on experience with woodworking machinery and tools in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship and quality standards.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is an asset.
