M Y Kitchen Cabinet Co, a well-established cabinet design and fabrication company, is seeking a
skilled Cabinetmaker
to join our team. The successful candidate will fabricate and assemble custom cabinets and vanities for residential and commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Consult with clients to determine needs and provide ongoing feedback throughout projects
Prepare specifications for custom-made cabinets to maximize storage
Study plans, specifications, or drawings of articles to be made
Estimate amount, type, and cost of materials required
Operate woodworking machines (power saws, jointers, mortisers, shapers) to cut, shape, and form parts and components
Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces using hand tools (planes, chisels, wood files)
Operate CADD and other computer software systems for design and layout
Trim joints and assemble parts and subassemblies to form complete units, reinforcing joints as required
Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain, or polish; prepare and apply laminated plastics
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Assist with light sales and client management duties, including following up on quotes and project progress
Work independently and supervise or train new and contract workers as needed
Lead and mentor a team of workers independently on projects as required
Notes:
We will provide training and support to obtain certification
We are hoping to find someone who will be able to progress to a supervisory position and lead a team independently - progression will be supported with experience.
Qualifications & Requirements:
2 years college diploma/ certificate or related experience
2 years of experience in woodworking, cabinetmaking, or a related field
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety procedures
Ability to work independently without supervision
Experience or education related to designing
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods and lift/move heavy materials
Work in a clean and safe environment, following safety protocols
