C02 Plant Operator

Job Description

Ferus Inc. specializes in the production, storage, and transportation of liquid nitrogen (N2), and liquid carbon dioxide (CO2), for the energy industry in Western Canada.

Ferus is currently seeking a CO2 Plant Operator to oversee the daily operations of our Ferus CO2 production facility located in Fort Saskatchewan Alberta. All duties will be performed in a safe, environmentally friendly & cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities:



Monitors CO2 plant operating conditions from control room; responds to alarms, recognizes operational problems; analyzes and adjusts process variables (e.g., start, normal operation, shutdown) to optimize plant performance.

Work single person rotating shifts encompassing all holidays and weekends (plant is maintained 24/7/365), on shift operator is required to perform all duties until relief arrives, including unscheduled call-outs, overtime, and travel between plant and other locations for needed assistance.

Oversees safety and security operations; monitors and controls plant access.

Supports transport truck and rail loading operations.

Records daily, weekly and monthly data (e.g., meter and gauge readings: logbook, tank level, & equipment readings: temperature, pressure, flow, and rate); prepares accurate daily, weekly and monthly reports.

Maintains continuous communications with other personnel and plant manager.

Maintains plant housekeeping and appearance.

Performs plant and equipment maintenance as assigned.

Qualifications:



High school diploma or GED. Prior CO2 experience is an asset but not required 2-3 years of gas/process industry experience is an asset but not required Trades experience an asset but not required Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is required Able to work a flexible shift schedule

Skills:



Ability to work in excessive heat, cold and noise. Keyboarding - Constant - Console monitoring. Ability to read and use P&ID's and other drawings. Ability to work safely at elevated heights. Able to maintain and promote good working relationships within a team environment. Good verbal/ written communication skills, decision making skills and strong work ethic. Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude and dexterity in the use of tools and equipment. Mathematical proficiency, with computer skills and experience in Microsoft office platform. Possess strong troubleshooting skills and general overall knowledge of mechanical and control systems. Able to assume responsibility, be flexible, perform duties & handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions.
