StarTech.com is currently looking for a Buyer to join our Supply Chain Department team. The Buyer Role is integral to the success of Product Availability at StarTech.com The Buyer works closely with our Vendors to maintain and drive continuous improvement into our launched product portfolio.
What will you be doing? Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain, the Buyer is accountable for executing Vendor Purchase Orders and Internal Transfer Orders per system recommendations. The Buyer works with the following departments at StarTech.com – Distribution and Logistics, Finance, Planning, Product Management, Sales, and Vendor Management. The Buyer also works with Product Managers, Product Developers, Supplier Management, and our Vendors to maintain and drive continuous improvement into our launched product portfolio. Key Responsibilities:

• Review and place planned orders to Vendors, as well as work orders and transfers between StarTech.com Distribution Centres. Work with Sales and Product Management to place orders to satisfy unplanned demand.
• Place new product orders (both advanced buying authorization and production purchase orders) as required.
• Manage ongoing manufacturing lead time, on time shipment metrics, and order point value.
• Support Vendors with onboarding and through the vendor collaboration portal.
• Provide input for evaluation of suppliers.
• Respond to inquiries regarding ETAs, product delays, bids, sales holds, quality issues, return to vendor issues, freight quotes, and keep track of stock keeping units that are reaching end of life.
• Assist company designated Broker with inbound (import) and outbound (export) documentation for ocean and air shipments to ensure compliance with customs Requirements and to reduce delays.
• Determine best options for inbound shipments that are full container, less container, etc.

What can you bring to the table?

• University degree or college diploma in relevant field (Supply Chain, Operations, or other) and at least 2 years of work experience in Supply Chain
• Or five years of relevant work experience in Supply Chain ideally with a manufacturing company
• Experience dealing with Vendors globally is considered an asset
