Rotation: 5 days in, followed by 2 days off (Monday-Friday)

And, we value your commitment to treat every person on our team with respect, helping us to operate safely, protect the environment and make a positive contribution to our local communities.ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYBased at the Canadian Operations Centre in Timmins, ON, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Buyer to join our Supply Chain team reporting to the Supply Chain Superintendent.The Buyer will be accountable to purchase supplies, equipment, and services in a professional, efficient, timely and cost-effective manner.Employment will require a commitment for occasional travel to the Detour Lake Mine Site on a 4/3 rotation.RESPONSIBILITIESYour responsibilities will include:

  • To get the best value when procuring goods and services in terms of quality, reliability, price and delivery
  • Responsible for day-to-day procurement operations
  • Utilizing contracts created by Strategic Sourcing, to procure materials and services as required
  • Sourcing and purchasing materials as required
  • Monitoring to make sure purchase order fax and/or EDI's went through and confirm expected ship dates and updating system
  • Negotiate effectively with suppliers to obtain best value
  • Produce purchase orders from requests/requisitions and expediting to ensure timely delivery
  • Manage purchase orders through to close-out and resolve any associated queries on a timely basis
  • Follow standard purchasing operating procedures
  • To identify and address issues related to the procurement process, escalating unresolved issues to the Supervisor
  • Coordinate with manufacturing to eliminate parts shortages
  • Maintain/improve supplier relationships
  • Document supplier performance and complete reviews as required
  • Assist in procurement projects and programs to achieve business goals and continuous improvements of processes
  • Resolve Accounts Payable issues as it applies to supplier deliveries
  • Resolves purchasing problems between department and supplier
  • Continuously develop market knowledge
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Able to create and change purchase orders
QUALIFICATIONSOur ideal candidate has:
  • Professional certification in Supply Chain or Procurement preferred (PMAC)
  • Post-Secondary education in Business Administration or similar discipline
  • Strong computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are essential
  • SAP experience required
  • Minimum 3-5 years related working experience within the mining industry
  • Knowledge of contract negotiations, contract management, contract laws, affective procurement practices, competitive bidding process and the development of bid documents
