Job Description

Cavendish Farms is currently seeking an individual for the position of Buyer to be based in New Annan, Prince Edward Island.

Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen potato products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States and around the world. We have state-of-the-art processing plants in New Annan, PE, Lethbridge, AB, Wheatley, ON, and Jamestown, ND. The head offices located in Dieppe, NB and sales locations in Toronto, Montreal and Boston.

Reporting to the Strategic Sourcing Manager, the Buyer will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, "Can Do" attitude and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Responsible for the cost-effective procurement of all goods and services required by the Company. In many cases the Buyer will be responsible for identifying suppliers, obtaining proposals, and implementing successful proposals. In other cases the Buyer will provide support to Senior Management during negotiations and implement the resulting agreement.

Successful Candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Reviewing Purchase Requisitions to ensure the correct supplier, price, taxes and dates are in place. Issuing subsequent purchase orders, receiving PO confirmations, following up with suppliers. Expediting orders when required. Maintaining accurate data.
• Developing relationships with key suppliers, obtaining competitive quotes or proposals and ensuring system data is accurate. Reviewing requisitions and purchase history to identifying cost reduction opportunities
• Ensuring supplier invoices are processed in a timely manner
• Training and support of local purchasing functions with requisitioners, particularly the maintenance department
• Continued review of inventory to ensure optimum inventory levels and accurate data.

Qualifications:

• University Degree or equivalent in work experience
• Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) preferred
• Similar experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset
• Demonstrated computer skills (MS Excel is a must, JD Edwards preferred)
