Key Accountabilities:

  • Analyze material availability and obtain competitive quotations, considering both commercial and technical aspects. Present findings to stakeholders for their approvals, ensuring well-informed decision-making in supplier selection and procurement strategies
  • Proactively manage supplier relationships, fostering open communication, setting clear expectations, and providing valuable feedback on performance
  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and savings, while also staying updated on pricing trends and market dynamics to optimize procurement outcomes
  • Develop comprehensive Purchase Orders for materials and equipment, ensuring accuracy and meticulous attention to detail. Skillfully negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers, seeking optimal value while maintaining a strong focus on quality, reliability, and timely fulfillment of project requirements
  • Take ownership of expediting contractual deliverables, diligently tracking progress, and promptly communicating updates to stakeholders
  • Address any potential delays or issues proactively, working collaboratively with suppliers and internal teams to ensure smooth and timely completion of deliverables, meeting project milestones
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance through the establishment of relevant metrics and KPIs
  • Continuously assess quality, delivery reliability, and responsiveness, providing constructive feedback to suppliers and collaboratively driving improvement initiatives that enhance overall supplier performance and strengthen partnerships
  • Stay updated of market trends and conduct thorough supplier evaluations to ensure alignment with organizational goals and procurement strategies.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, financial stability, and adherence to ethical standards, contributing to a robust and reliable supplier base that supports long-term strategic objectives
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, such as Engineering, Operations, and Quality Assurance, to align procurement activities with project requirements
  • Collaboratively define technical specifications, quality standards, and delivery timelines, ensuring seamless integration and successful project execution through effective communication and coordination
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, terms, and conditions throughout the procurement process. Collaborate with Legal and Contract Management teams to review and negotiate contract terms, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements while mitigating potential risks and maximizing contract value
  • Continuously seek opportunities to optimize costs and identify potential savings throughout the procurement process
  • Engage in value analysis and value engineering exercises, collaborating with stakeholders to explore alternative materials, suppliers, or process improvements that drive cost efficiencies without compromising quality, ultimately maximizing value for the organization
Other Details:
  • Job location: Calgary, Alberta
  • Shift schedule: 5x2 \xe2\x80\x93 Monday to Friday, 8 hours/day
  • This position may require business travel to site to interact and collaborate with the various value streams
  • This is a 12 month temporary position
  • This is a safety sensitive position
Skills & Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of related industry experience in procurement
  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree
  • Expertise in:
  • Providing procurement support to a large industrial operation
  • Operations and management processes
  • Procurement within an ERP system (i.e. JD Edwards, Maximo, SAP)
  • Current SCMP or related Supply Chain Management designation
