Role Summary
Reporting to the Head of Technology, the Business Systems Manager will oversee the governance, support, and strategic evolution of Compass Communities' core enterprise platforms, including ERP, CPM, BI, and Property Operations systems. This role will ensure the organization's technology ecosystem scales in alignment with operational and financial priorities. The successful candidate will be a seasoned, business-minded professional who brings a strong track record of cross-functional partnership, systems stewardship, and translating business requirements into actionable system roadmaps and meaningful enhancements.
This position will be based out of our Mississauga office.
Core Responsibilities
System Support, Training & Administration
Oversee daily operations of core platforms (e.g., RentManager, SAP Concur, Vena, and custom Power Apps), including report development, incident resolution, and ticket management.
Develop and deliver training programs, such as user guides, presentations, and workshop materials, to support effective system adoption.
Train business users to ensure they can fully leverage system capabilities and new enhancements.
Maintain system accuracy and reliability by establishing best?practice validation, testing, and quality?control procedures.
Serve as the escalation point for complex issues, partnering with cross?functional teams to drive timely resolutions.
Project / Vendor Management & Collaboration
Lead cross?functional initiatives, support user acceptance testing, contribute to data integration efforts, and promote successful adoption across the organization.
Define and manage project timelines, milestones, and communication plans, ensuring delivery on schedule and within budget.
Work closely with vendors, third?party partners, and internal teams to identify requirements and drive continuous improvement.
Oversee application support vendors, consultants, and integrators to maintain service quality, system stability, and effective change management.
Manage system upgrades, enhancements, licensing, and security configurations.
Process Improvement & Change Enablement
Collaborate with business leaders to streamline workflows, automate manual tasks, and digitize operational processes.
Support rollout of new modules or tools, ensuring proper training, documentation, and change?management practices.
Data & Integration Governance
Safeguard accurate, secure, and consistent data flow between systems (e.g., ERP to Dataverse, Dataverse to Vena).
Partner with business stakeholders to define KPIs and enable enterprise reporting through tools such as Power BI and Vena.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure application and data processes comply with internal controls and industry standards.
Administer access controls, audit logs, and periodic system reviews.
Cross?Functional Engagement
Serve as the primary systems liaison for Finance, Property Operations, Investments, and People & Culture.
Manage enhancement requests and coordinate stakeholder steering committees when needed.
Required Skills and Experience
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
7-10 years of experience managing enterprise applications, including support for key business areas such as finance and property operations.
Solid experience with:
+ Property management platforms (e.g., RentManager, Yardi, or comparable systems)
+ ERP solutions (e.g., NetSuite, Dynamics Business Central, or similar)
+ Microsoft SharePoint and the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate)
+ CPM tools (e.g., Vena, Anaplan) and BI technologies (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) A track record of effective vendor management and oversight of SaaS lifecycle processes.
Working knowledge of integration patterns, APIs, and data governance principles.
Familiarity with compliance standards such as SOX and SOC 2, along with business continuity best practices.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, enabling collaboration across both technical and non?technical teams.
