Chief Operations Office Inmarsat’s Chief Operations Office (COO) plays a vital role managing the services that keep our business running and delivering to our customers. COO consists of 9 functions including: Satellite Operations, Network Operations, Service Assurance, Service Delivery Aviation and Customer Assurance, Service Delivery and Supply Chain, Project Management Office, Global Cyber Security and Group IT


Primary role purpose:
As a Business Systems Analyst, you will solicit, understand, and document the customer's business requirements, processes and workflows developing both written and visual depictions of requirements and process flows. You will elicit and understand current business and system process definitions as well as plan target to-be process working alongside of technical experts and business stakeholders. You will work with developers to create the functional specifications that meet those requirements, serve as a subject matter expert to the developers building those functions, and work with the QA team to test the developed functionality. This role works closely with other BSAs, Developers, Testers, and Production Support through each stage of the software development lifecycle and also demonstrates both existing and new functionality to the customer stakeholders. You must be able to partner effectively with different levels of the organization, collaborate with others, drive results, proactively identify and resolve problems, and make challenging decisions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams.
  • Create business requirements, use cases, or user stories as required to represent business needs.
  • Facilitate process and value stream discussions, develop customer journeys, use cases, platform requirements.
  • Derive, document, prioritize, communicate, and gain approval for business, functional, data, integration, migration and technical requirements.
  • Analyse and assess requirements to identify upstream and downstream system and process impacts to proactively communicate impacts, risks, and solutions to other technology and business owners.
  • Gather requirements and help build and document specifications for development.
  • Assist in scrum planning, release structure, and support the projects through delivery and commercial roll-out.
  • Assist in the communication and implementation of business process and systems/systems interfaces, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work with Development and Production Support teams to ensure alignment of solution with the target business needs and processes, ensuring requirements are met, and to communicate, verify, and test the desired functionality changes as part of the demo sessions and business readiness planning.
  • Work with the business customer points of contact and clients to demonstrate the changes to the system to ensure all relevant business needs and change readiness concerns are addressed.
  • Provide input to the Quality Assurance team that will fed into the Test Strategy, Test plans, Test Scripts.
  • Provide input to the Operations Excellence teams on the target state processes.
  • Provide input to Technical Authors and the Training Academy on training and reference collateral.
  • Recommend and institute BSA best practice and methodology and tools.


Qualifications
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree or technical diploma within an IT related field from a recognized post-secondary institution. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience of working in a similar role and environment.
  • Understanding of the Management of Requirements Methodology, ITIL and business analysis principles, processes, and techniques.
  • Ability to develop and prepare Business Requirements, use cases, and user stories, functional wireframes, and business and system flow diagrams and modelling.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication.
  • Proficient in MS Office skills Incl. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
  • Understanding for applications Incl. JIRA, Confluence, Figma, Storyteller, Blueworks.
  • Assertive and confident raising action points with senior individuals.
  • A background in the fixed or mobile telco operator business would be beneficial.
