Our Sudbury Operations have been in existence for more than 100 years. With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world. Sudbury is also home to several administrative sites serving both the Ontario Operations as well as all our North Atlantic Operations.

Port Colborne is home to our Nickel Refinery where raw materials from our Sudbury operations are processed into electrocobalt and precious metals and serves as a distribution centre for finished nickel products.

Our Team

The Copper Cliff Mine Complex Team is integral to the success of the operation in becoming a safe, predictable, and reliable producer. Working collaboratively with multiple Operations, Maintenance and Support groups, the Business Support Superintendent will provide the leadership required to meet.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Superintendent, Business Support to join our Copper Cliff Mine Complex Team in Sudbury. This is a permanent position.

The Business Support Superintendent will support plant management with their goals and objectives by implementing and optimizing divisional initiatives and business processes. The role maintains the site risk management registry and leads plant improvement initiatives. This role leads the plant administrators and VPS/CI support roles at the site. This role is a crucial development role for the Manager Position.

About You

Education:

  • Undergraduate or a College Diploma required in Finance or Business or related area.
Experience:
  • 8+ years of dynamic proven experience in a supervisory or technical support role.
  • Preferred experience in maintenance, operations and technical.
  • Diverse experience is critical for this role since this role is a preferred pre-requisite for Manager Role. This role is valued as a rotational position for Superintendent's development. Superintendents would rotate through this position and others such as the Reliability, Maintenance, Operational Superintendent roles).
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business systems and processes (ex. PeopleSoft, Overtime canvassing, Document control, Procedures, eMOC, SAP).
Skills and Accountabilities:
  • Develop, coordinate and implement external and plant wide initiatives (safety, standards, communications, environment, HR, surveys, audits).
  • Maintain site risk management registry.
  • Leads plant improvement initiatives.
  • Participate with Operations Finance Partner in defining plant business value drivers and budget.
  • Lead Plant Administrative Support(s) and optimize plant admin functions, as well as lead Vale Production System (VPS) and Continuous Improvement (CI) support person(s).
  • Participate in a Business Support Community of Practice ensuring best practice and consistent application of initiatives.
  • Lead coordination of plant metrics and serve as plant focal point for ISO standards.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments as required to help plant management decisions on short term objectives.
  • Perform function as Designate Acting Manager when Manager is away.
