We are looking for a Procurement Business Partner to be responsible for delivering value by providing safe, efficient and effective procurement and in-bound supply chain services, establishing or improving competitive supply markets for the purchase of goods and services, applying uniform processes and e-technologies resulting in continuous supply chain improvement, enhanced corporate social responsibility and measurable savings for Diavik, and supporting operations through effective and efficient logistics and transportation services.

This position is a fantastic opportunity to showcase and demonstrate your expertise in procurement best practices, commercial law, and mining requirements, as you lead a diverse and robust team. This position will be based in Yellowknife NT working out of the Corporate office; however, regular travel to site will be expected. This position will report to the President & COO with dotted line reporting to the central procurement team.

About you

In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Contributing to Diavik\xe2\x80\x99s performance as a Zero Harm workplace through engagement and active participation in safety initiatives and ensuring safety issues are considered in work processes, negotiations and contracts.
  • Ensuring team members conduct sound category management processes, project implementation methodologies are deployed, and implementation is completed in accordance with RTP\xe2\x80\x99s process, documentation and governance requirements. This includes processes such as negotiation, risk mitigation, change management and innovation.
  • Engaging with Rio Tinto Procurement to plan and deliver high-quality procurement services to the business \xe2\x80\x93 ensuring that Diavik receives the greatest value from the sourcing function.
  • Leading and motivating an effective procurement department to deliver the procurement and logistics needs of the business.
  • Managing winter road participation in the Winter Road Joint Venture as part of the Operations Management Committee (OMC). Responsibilities will be to ensure Rio Tinto\xe2\x80\x99s governances, policies, and procedures are followed based on the terms and conditions of the Joint Venture.
  • Collaborating with the Director of the Winter Road Joint Venture to ensure the construction, maintenance, health and safety, operation, and closure of the Winter Road
  • Contributing to a strong governance culture in Diavik by complying with Rio Tinto\xe2\x80\x99s "The Way We Work", other governance policies and procedures, and through active participation in good governance practices.
  • Ensuring the effective delivery of all agreed services to customers (internal or external) at the required standards by establishing effective partnership relationships and proactively participating in a culture of excellent service.
  • Contributing to the sourcing process by ensuring suppliers are selected on the basis of safety, innovation, local content quality, service and price, and working closely with Diavik Communities & Social Performance team to ensure local commitments and agreement requirements are met.
About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • A strong safety mindset.
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering.
  • At least seven (7) years of procurement, service delivery, and supply chain experience.
  • Previous experience in an industrial setting, preferably mining.
  • Experience with remote operations essential.
  • Strong commercial acumen with proven category and contract management capabilities and experience negotiating a broad range of contracts.
  • Proven project management, problem solving and customer relationship management skills.
  • Ability to achieve outcomes through influencing and collaboration with others to ensure adherence to broader finance and risk requirements.
  • Materials management and contractor management system skills, preferably SAP (PTP Functions).
  • Strong Excel and Power BI skills with ability to create management tools such as modelling and scenario analysis.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form, with both internal and external stakeholders.
