The Alberta Innovates Marketing and Communications team is seeking a Business Partner, Communications to provide strategic advice, plans and support to business divisions and corporate functions to advance program outcomes and desired enterprise impact.Are you our Business Partner, Communications? Working closely with the marketing and communications team, internal business clients, and external partners, this role works to assure organization culture, brand and operational practices and behaviours are well-aligned in all communications. The successful incumbent will be accountable for .Develops strategic communications plans, and implements internal and change communications working closely with corporate services and operational colleagues
Leads identified projects, programs and subsidiary initiatives ensuring alignment with overarching corporate goals
Researches, conducts interviews, writes, edits and tailors communication materials for intended audience to achieve sustained engagement
Monitors and maintains communication systems, processes and procedures for optimal effectiveness and initiates adjustments when appropriate
Works closely with business partners and communication colleagues to reveal and tell program stories through sponsorships, community events and speaking engagements
Implements business program social/digital strategies in concert with corporate brand positioning and stakeholder engagement goals, and reports on the effectiveness of these strategies
Identifies potential issues and coordinates messaging and response for business divisions and corporate functions as assigned
Prepares program leaders for media announcements and coordinates technical briefings and materials to pitch stories and respond to media inquiries
Identifies relevant program audiences, arranges and facilitates in-person/hybrid events and workshops and prepares promotional, educational, and informational materials, maintaining congruence with corporate brand voice and strategyQualifications and skills we are looking for:
Diploma in communications, public relations, journalism, broadcasting, or English
University degree in business, communications, public relations or equivalent is considered an asset
5 years of varied experience in business, non-profit, or association communication roles, with 2 years prior experience in a similar role
Membership with International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), Canadian Public Relations Society (CRPS) or related professional association
Knowledge of media trends, social analytics, and digital tools and platforms, and the communication planning process
Strong, effective, and creative communicator - both written and oral.
Manages time effectively, is self-motivated, organized, and results-oriented
Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, as part of a team, and collaboratively with clients
Creative flair for visual presentation, writing, web and digital asset production and social media
Strong computer and digital media literacy; proficient in design, publishing, video, photography, and email marketing programs.
Familiar with Canadian Press Style Guide
Solid research, writing, editing and proofreading skills
Strong consulting and project management skills
Ability to work with senior level officials
