Blessed Carlos Acutis is set to open in September 2026. Nestled in the Clareview/Dunluce area of Edmonton, upon completion, the school will be able to accommodate just over 1300 students in grades 10-12.


The Business Manager, High School, is responsible for the overall management of the school's financial activities, ensuring compliance with Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and Division requirements. The role involves developing and maintaining effective financial control systems, directing financial operations, and providing financial

information to support operational decisions. This position contributes to the organization's goals by ensuring accurate, efficient, and effective financial management, which supports the school's overall mission and objectives. Additionally, the Business Manager plays a key role in budget development, strategic planning, and revenue administration, ensuring the economical use of resources and safeguarding of information.

RESPONSIBILITIES



Manage Financial Control Systems



Develop and maintain effective financial control systems to ensure compliance with Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and Division requirements Implement and administer internal reporting systems to enhance the timeliness, reliability, and relevance of reported information Identify control weaknesses and establish internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting Provide financial information to the principal for operational decisions, ensuring the economical use of resources

Coordinate Budget Development and Control



Assist the principal with the school's financial operations, emphasizing budget control and effective workflow Develop and monitor the school's budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives Conduct cost/benefit analyses for various programs and activities to support strategic planning and decision- making Implement financial policies to ensure compliance with centrally established accounting principles and
Division requirements.

Provide Financial Training and Support for School Staff



Supervise Business Office Assistants, including assigning, delegating, and evaluating work performance Provide training and guidance to staff on financial requirements, processes, and regulations Conduct orientation sessions for new teachers and administrators on financial procedures and policies Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment to enhance team performance and productivity

Administer School-Generated Revenue



Manage the administration of school-generated revenue, ensuring accuracy in reports, reconciliations, documentation, and audit trails Coordinate with Financial Services and external auditors to facilitate audits and provide necessary documentation Establish reporting needs and standards for financial and statistical reports, creating formats and procedures for efficient information communication Ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures to maintain the integrity of the accounting
system

Provide Financial Expertise and Support



Offer expertise in financial management, budget development, and strategic planning to the school's administrative team Advise on financial matters, including budget adjustments, resource allocation, and financial forecasting Collaborate with various departments to ensure financial practices align with organizational goals and objectives Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continuously improve financial management processes.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting, or Business Administration, supplemented by advanced accounting courses, plus five years of directly related professional experience Understanding of compliance regulations, Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS), and Division requirements Knowledge of accounting principles, electronic financial systems, and software programs (e.g., Excel databases, reporting tools) Familiarity with project management techniques and budget development processes Awareness of supervisory principles, practices, and the Unifor Collective Agreement General knowledge of the Division's operations and business and general understanding of the Division's mission and vision in a faith-based environment
