What it means to be a Business Development co-op with Shift (4-month co-op)




As a Business Development Coordinator Co-op, you will leverage your strong communication, relationship-building, and research skills to help identify and pursue growth opportunities. You can expect to collaborate with cross-functional teams to support lead generation, market research, and outreach initiatives, while also assisting in the creation of business development materials and presentations. This role will give you the opportunity to strengthen your skills in sales, marketing, and strategy, while contributing to initiatives that drive partnerships, expand our market presence, and support overall company growth.

Business Development Co-op

on the Shift team, you'll be responsible for:

Conduct market research to identify potential industries, companies, and partners who could benefit from custom browser solutions. Analyze opportunities and evaluate market trends to determine where Shift's browser solutions and partnership offerings can create the most value. Support outbound prospecting efforts by identifying decision-makers, drafting outreach messaging, and tracking responses. Assist in pipeline development by organizing leads, managing CRM entries, and preparing insights for the business development team. Create reports and presentations that summarize research findings, market opportunities, and sales funnel updates. Collaborate with the Product, Marketing and Technology teams to test hypotheses, refine strategies, and support the validation of this new revenue stream.

What makes you a top candidate?



You are curious, resourceful, and motivated by the idea of turning bold ideas into tangible results. You love digging into data, markets, and customer behaviours to uncover opportunities. You are comfortable with outreach and have strong written communication skills. You are organized, detail-oriented, and confident in managing information across multiple sources. You're excited about working on early-stage projects where ambiguity is high but the learning and impact are huge. You have experience with research, sales, or marketing, and/or are eager to learn business development in a fast-paced environment. You're currently enrolled in a Business, Marketing, Commerce, or related program.

Nice to Have:



Familiarity with CRM tools and pipeline management. Experience with outbound prospecting or sales engagement platforms. * Interest in technology, SaaS, or digital media.
