Business Development Representative - Equipment RentalWho We Are

What This Role Is



This is a

Business Development

role -- not outside sales.

Your job is to create qualified opportunities by re-engaging past customers, following up on lost quotes, and prospecting into an established database of thousands of contacts. You will not manage rental contracts, handle service issues, or price complex jobs.

While you will not be quoting equipment,

baseline equipment knowledge is required

so conversations are credible, efficient, and valuable to our customers and counter team.

You create momentum. Our counter team and leadership close.

What You'll Do



Contact dormant and inactive customers from an established customer database Follow up on lost or expired quotes Prospect new opportunities by phone and email Identify upcoming job needs, timelines, and equipment categories Accurately document activity and opportunity details in our CRM Hand off clean, complete opportunities to the counter team

What You Will NOT Do



Manage rental contracts Quote complex jobs or size equipment Handle service issues or emergencies Be responsible for pricing, delivery, or collections Spend time "helping out" at the counter
This role is focused entirely on

pipeline creation

Equipment Knowledge Required



This role requires

working knowledge of rental equipment and job-site environments

, including:

Familiarity with common rental equipment categories (lifts, earthmoving, compaction, power, etc.) Understanding of basic job-site applications and timelines Ability to ask intelligent, relevant questions and recognize real needs
You are not expected to spec machines or price jobs -- but you

must understand the language of the field

.

If you have never worked around equipment, job sites, or trades, this role will not be a fit.



What Success Looks Like



Success is measured weekly and monthly by:

Qualified opportunities created Dormant accounts reactivated CRM accuracy and consistency Lead quality and conversion performance
Incentives are paid only on

clearly qualified, CRM-documented opportunities that meet our internal standards

You will always know where you stand.

Compensation



Base salary: $45,000 - $55,000

, depending on experience

Uncapped incentive program


A motivated, disciplined performer should

realistically earn $20,000+ per year in incentives

, with total compensation landing in the

$65,000-$75,000+ range

.

Incentive structure and performance expectations will be discussed in detail during the interview process.

Schedule



Full-time position (40 hours per week)

Consistent, predictable schedule No evenings or weekends

Who This Role Is For



Organized, disciplined, and consistent Comfortable with outbound calling and follow-up Process-driven and detail-oriented Able to work independently without constant supervision CRM experience is an asset

Prior exposure to equipment rental, construction, industrial work, or job sites is required
