Position Summary



Reporting to the Associate Dean, School of Flexible Learning (SOFL), the Business and Academic Programs Developer provides support in the execution of part-time, online studies strategic initiatives that are aligned with the School of Flexible Learning and Faculty of Lifelong Learning and Industry Training (LLIT) business strategy.


The successful candidate will plan, develop, deliver and enhance new and existing, revenue-generating, part-time online programs, courses, microcredentials and related initiatives in alignment with college, ministry, and partner requirements. The Business and Academic Program Developer will also focus on building and maintaining strong relationships with community, internal, and external partners.





Responsibilities




Engages with internal and external stakeholders, such as academic schools, facilitators, students, professional associations, accrediting institutions, community agencies and various Ministries to develop and maintain ongoing relationships and explore opportunities to generate new activity and revenue Acts as a lead and advocate to part-time learning for internal and external partners, including creation and communication of advice and information about center activities, OntarioLearn, policies, procedures, practices and priorities Creates new processes, workflows, systems to support implementation of new program/course offerings where applicable Provides academic guidance to SMEs/facilitators in the creation and review of course outlines according to College and OntarioLearn/partner policies and best practices using internal systems (COCO/Kuali), assisting with writing learning outcomes and mapping outcomes as appropriate Leads program advisory committee (PAC) meetings for SOFL programming, and participates in PACs led by the Academic Schools where there is alignment of programming Leads, coordinates, and participates in internal and external activities and events such as conferences, presentations, partner events, facilitator PD, information nights, open houses, etc. Provides training and guidance to new/existing facilitators and monitors facilitators to ensure that SOFL, OntarioLearn and College policies and practices are followed Provides routine technical support and/or referral to appropriate service area Plans all aspects of effective part-time program and course delivery, including coordination and preparation of physical/digital learning spaces, materials, content and resources; sequencing and scheduling of courses to meet needs and requirements; monitoring of budget and expenses Curates and analyzes data and trends related to registration numbers, enrolment, retention and cancellation; utilizes data to support curriculum changes, new course/program development or retirement, etc. Prepares reports, briefing notes, internal documentation, proposals, and makes recommendations to the Academic Schools, College Council, community and provincial partners and SOFL/LLIT leadership team as required Maintains and verifies accurate program and course information, ensuring all partner and SOFL program information is updated and accurately communicated to learners Leads strategic priorities on behalf of the school, including establishing project milestones and timelines, curating and analyzing data, carrying out assigned project tasks, analyzing implications and potential impacts, escalating issues as required and providing guidance and support to peers Leads the development of new courses/programs/microcredentials including leading the recruitment process for subject matter experts (SMEs) and facilitators, liaising between stakeholders, and ensuring OntarioLearn, College and SOFL policies and best practices are followed




Qualifications/Experience




Three (3) year degree/diploma in a related field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience Coursework, certification or training in Adult Learning, eLearning, Instructional Design or related, (e.g., Teaching and Learning in Higher Education coursework) is required Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience required. Experience must come from a business or educational setting, with demonstrated experience developing business plans and proposals, relationship management, and leading projects and monitoring teams. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, leveraging strong critical thinking and advanced problem-solving skills to navigate complex challenges and drive effective, solution-oriented outcomes Demonstrated advanced MS Office skills (word processing, spreadsheets and advanced functions and formulas for data analysis) Demonstrated experience with online teaching and learning technologies (LMS, e-portfolio, Padlet, H5P) and supporting online programs/courses or learners. Experience with OntarioLearn considered an asset Demonstrates an aptitude for learning new technologies Ability to anticipate and respond effectively to change, comfortable with ambiguity Demonstrated strong awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to provide service within a cross-cultural and highly diverse work environment
