| What we are looking for

Reporting to the Director, the Business Analyst, Talent Management supports Payments Canada's talent strategy by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting workforce data to inform strategic decision-making. This role proposes data-driven insights, builds talent roadmaps and tracks progress against key priorities to drive the organization's talent agenda and continuous improvement and effectiveness in talent practices.

The Business Analyst, Talent Management also applies change management principles when preparing talent roadmaps, with the objectives of supporting leaders and teams to adapt to new talent processes, systems and programs.The incumbent brings strong analytical and technical expertise, data-driven storytelling and presentation skills, experience in people and culture practices and conducting research on talent trends and best practices. The incumbent will gather information, analyze it, effectively disseminate it and liaise with other team members and the broader People team to provide insights and implications to inform recommendations and plans.

This role is an integral member of the Talent team, working collaboratively to support the team's purpose to cultivate a future-ready and thriving workforce.

| A day in the life

Responsibilities of the Business Analyst, Talent Management include:



Data Preparation and Management:



Prepare, clean, and process all recurring and ad-hoc reports. Coordinate data across sources and validate datasets with stakeholders (HRBPs, HR Operations) to ensure accuracy. Organize and manage data for dashboard imports, maintain published people dashboards, and support ad-hoc analysis. Build/update reports and infrastructure while strictly upholding data ethics and privacy. Tracking/Reporting on Talent Priorities and Trends Design, maintain, and present talent roadmaps, dashboards, and reports that provide actionable, evidence-based insights to People teams and business leaders Collect, analyze, and interpret talent data to identify trends and risks, Maintain a strong understanding of external talent trends and their potential organizational impact.

Continuous Improvement:



Evaluate the effectiveness and ROI of talent programs to support continuous learning. Gather stakeholder feedback to determine necessary modifications and enhancements to existing deliverables. Support the development, testing, and implementation of new analytics tools and methods. Document and continuously improve operational processes and collaborate with partners (HRIS, IT) to enhance data infrastructure and analytics capabilities.

Insight Facilitation and Collaboration

Establish collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to advise cross-functional teams and contribute to the Talent agenda with organizational and market knowledge. Apply change management principles (e.g., communication planning, readiness assessment) to ensure the smooth adoption of new Talent processes, systems, and data-driven initiatives.

| What you need to be successful

Undergraduate degree in human resources, organizational development, business analytics, research, psychology or a related field of relevant experience. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in people analytics, HR data analysis, or operational analysis, with a proven ability to synthesize complex information into clear, strategic, and insightful output. Proficiency in Google Sheets, Excel, and one or more analytical language (SQL, R, SPSS, Python, etc.) and data visualization and dashboarding tools (Looker Data Studio, Tableau, Power BI, etc.) Familiarity with HR information systems (e.g., Dayforce, Workday), workforce data, and employee engagement surveys. Experience handling and organizing large datasets, including unstructured quantitative and qualitative data. Demonstrated experience supporting change management initiatives. Excellent attention to detail and professional and personal effectiveness skills. Experience in establishing effective relationships with internal stakeholders. Experience in supporting multiple priorities and projects. Occasional travel will be required. Eligibility to successfully complete background checks that will be carried out by Payments Canada, including criminal, credit, identity, employment, and education checks.

| Salary range

Based on qualifications and experience: $78,031 to $97,539
