Job Description

Position Summary:

The Bus Driver is responsible for providing safe transportation for program participants to and from the program sites and/or daily special trips. This position ensures that all work is carried out within the context of the agency's Mission Statement, Board approved policies, and organizational practices. This position is mostly daytime hours between 9:30am-3pm, 1-2 days to start with the potential to increase.

Key Responsibilities:

Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for buses Drive program participants to and from program and on day trips within Toronto as required Ensure the safety and well being of participants, staff and volunteers while on the bus Follow assigned route and adhere to set schedules and hours Follow bus safety protocol (circle check etc.) Arrange for maintenance and service of the bus Complete necessary forms (mileage recording, bus maintenance log) Keep bus clean and fueled Report all incidents, accidents, vehicle damage and participants injuries as they occur Perform other assigned duties when the bus is not in working order and / or the transportation is cancelled due to the weather conditions ()
Ensures an approach that displays a positive attitude, sensitivity and understanding towards people of all abilities, backgrounds and orientation Carries out other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Good driving record Valid "F" license Enjoy working with children, youth and seniors Sensitive to cultural/ethnic differences Knowledge of Scarborough area Knowledge of proper passenger loading and unloading safety procedures Current certification in CPR and First Aid
