We are seeking a talented and motivated Student Nutrition and Communications Officer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing central bulk food distribution for schools and to animate the Foundation's activities to ensure that our messages resonate with our target audience. This position requires a blend of problem-solving, organization, nutrition program knowledge, and strong communication skills to effectively represent our mission and values in service of children.
Duties
Work together with the Angel Foundation for Learning (AFL) SNP Coordinator, Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS) Managers, the Student Nutrition. The Program Officer/Bulk Liaison SNPOB liaises with local school site authorities (principals) to coordinate: food items and menus, delivery schedules, and quality experience with central distribution parties such as AFL and TFSS staff and food distributors;
Ensure quality of centralized processes with thorough communication and feedback regarding food quality and accuracy of food menu quantities in the context of community and local need;
Coordinate an organized system to monitor initial orders, allow appropriate adjustments, verify accuracy of deliveries and provide appropriate local and supplier feedback to enhance system productivity and quality across 20-30 school communities;
Maintain regular communication with assigned SNP site authorities (approximately 60-80 people) to proactively troubleshoot and resolve SNP issues through ongoing bi-weekly phone, online check-ins, or in-person site visits, as required;
Develop and implement communication strategies that align with organizational goals.
Write clear and engaging content for various platforms, including press releases, newsletters, and social media.
Engage in other AFL Foundation environments to support associates with updates and event planning through a variety of communication and engagement methods including AFL website and social media;
Complete other tasks to support coordination and execution of AFL events and programs, as requested by the AFL Communications Manager by a set deadline.
Experience
A two-year College Diploma in Food or Nutrition Management or a combination of education and experience, ideally with a two-year College Diploma in a related field (e.g. Food, Culinary or Food Service industry related management); OR
Minimum of two (2) years related work experience in: nutrition management or food services in an institutional or publicly-funded environment or project management experience managing inventory quality in a fast-paced environment;
Practical experience coordinating a Student Nutrition Program in a community setting would be an asset;
Practical experience managing delivery schedules, accuracy of deliveries and centralized ordering systems;
Business or Institutional communications and marketing experience including web-based and social media proficiency;
Proven work experience in a charity or foundation;
