: We are seeking a Building/Maintenance/Facility Manager to work onsite in York Region, ON. This role provides essential leadership in a retirement residence, including expense control, building maintenance, and resource management. The position requires on-call availability during evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

: Building and Facility Management:

Plan and coordinate all installations (telecommunications, heat, electricity, etc.) and refurbishments. Inspect building structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations. Maintain the building and grounds of the retirement residence. Perform exterior and interior cleaning duties as needed, including snow and ice removal, garbage handling, and maintenance of common and amenity areas. Manage turnover and cleaning of vacant suites, including minor repairs as needed. Perform repairs, renovations and preventative maintenance as needed. Manage the budget for facility maintenance and operations, including forecasting expenses, tracking expenditures, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Establish and maintain effective processes for safety, security, and sustainability, including regular inspections, maintenance protocols, and emergency response plans. Develop and implement efficient processes to optimize facility operations, including preventive maintenance schedules, emergency response plans, and vendor management protocols. Serve as the primary point of contact for all facility-related inquiries, issues, and emergencies, ensuring timely and effective resolution while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance. Ensure site management and operations practices follow standards (e.g., building code, fire code, public health requirements).
Maintenance Responsibilities:

Thorough knowledge of all maintenance systems (pumps, emergency generators, HVAC, boilers, chillers, sprinklers, etc.). Coordinate month-end duties, including pre-inspection, fire safety, emergency codes, and fire drills. Oversee fire and life safety systems maintenance. Plan emergency plans and procedures and train staff on same. Assist the Executive Director with managing the annual capital plan and identifying repair needs. Supervise service providers, and contractors, and review and approve invoices for payment.
Customer Service Responsibilities:

Address resident issues and service requests promptly. Promote a neighborly and community atmosphere, interacting with residents professionally. Seek ways to exceed resident service expectations.
Management & Training Responsibilities:

Assist orientation and training of new and existing staff. Foster continuous staff development and customer service attitudes. Understand and manage annual budgets and operating/capital plans. Participate in Health & Safety committees.
Fire Safety-Life Safety-Emergency Situation Responsibilities:

Comply with fire safety and life safety standards, including maintaining logs and completing fire drills. Plan emergency procedures, including fire, flood, loss of power, evacuations and ensure staff has a thorough understanding of same.
Skills and Experience Required:

Background in residential retirement residence or property management, or related experience (office administration, skilled trade, handyperson). Strong customer service and selling skills. Excellent communication skills for interacting with residents, families, prospects, colleagues, and trades. Proven management skills to coach, train, and motivate staff. Professional appearance and basic computer skills. Ability to perform minor repairs and aptitude for mechanical systems. Demonstrated cleaning skills and ability to lift heavy objects and perform extended snow removal duties.

Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
