We are seeking a Building Science Engineer with a focus on structural rehabilitation, to contribute to the design, inspection, analysis, and project management of repair work involving concrete infrastructure, building envelopes, and roofing systems.
Responsibilities
Conduct visual and technical inspections of concrete structures, building envelopes, and roof assemblies (mid/high-rise residential, commercial, institutional)
Diagnose building pathologies such as cracks, rebar corrosion, delamination, water infiltration, membrane deterioration, etc.
Prepare technical assessment reports including corrective recommendations
Develop plans and specifications for repair and rehabilitation work (e.g., concrete, masonry, roofing membranes, curtain walls, sealants)
Provide site supervision during construction (compliance inspections, site meetings, validation of repair work)
Collaborate with architects, contractors, institutional clients, and condo syndicates/property managers
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NBC, CSA A23.1/.2, CSA S6)
Contribute to the development of sustainable, technically sound building engineering solutions aligned with industry best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Building Engineering, or a related field
Member in good standing with the Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec (OIQ)
5 to 8 years of relevant experience, especially in inspections, concrete repair, envelope restoration, or roofing
Strong knowledge of construction materials (concrete, steel, masonry, membranes, sealants, etc.)
Familiarity with CSA, NBC, ASTM standards and inspection practices (e.g., hammer sounding, probe testing, non-destructive methods -- asset)
Proficient with standard software (AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, etc.)
Demonstrated autonomy, rigor, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel occasionally to job sites.
