At SMS Equipment our Building Maintenance Technicians play a key role in maintaining our Fort McMurray facilities. In this role, the incumbent will assess and solve problems, complete interior and exterior repairs and maintain a safe working environment. We are looking for a candidate who will bring their skills, positivity, and organization to the team.

The shift rotation for this position is 5x2.

The hourly rate for this position is $50.88 per hour.

As an SMS Equipment Building Maintenance Technician, you will work with career trades people who take pride in their work and company. You will utilize essential skills such as:

Interior Maintenance

• Assembling desks, cabinets, shelving, and other woodwork
• Repairs to ceramic flooring and tiles
• Dry walling, prepping walls, and painting
• Moving furniture
• Inspections and repairs of washrooms and minor plumbing
• Inspections and repairs and changing of light fixtures

Exterior Maintenance

• Assist with ground maintenance (cutting grass, garbage pick-up, etc.)
• Assist with snow removal (side walks, around man doors, overhead doors, etc.)
• Repair hitching rails in parking areas
• General building repairs
• Other duties as required within buildings/ facility.
• Inspection and repair of locks.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a similar role. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Other requirements include:

• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
• Proven ability to adhere to and maintain workplace health and safety initiatives
• Organized with knowledge of building codes and safe work practices
• Excellent communication at all levels.
