Building Maintenance Staff

The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta (SSA) is a not-for-profit organization that improves quality-of-life for Albertans affected by schizophrenia and related disorders. We are proud of our three housing facilities that provide housing for people living with serious mental illness and at risk of homelessness.

The SSA is currently hiring a casual building maintenance staff based in Edmonton. Reporting to the Provincial Executive Director, this position is responsible for performing or coordinating a variety of preventative maintenance tasks and general repairs our housing program Iris Court in Edmonton.

Duties / Responsibilities:

Complete Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly tasks at each location Complete small building and equipment repairs as required Grounds Maintenance Painting Carry out maintenance inspections with SSA Staff Adheres to established protocols for safety, privacy and confidentiality Be available to respond to alarm calls or other urgent maintenance issues during and after regular work hours All other duties as necessary to maintain building in a safe and repaired condition

QUALIFICATIONS:

5 years minimum experience with carpentry, basic plumbing, painting, and building maintenance Ability to communicate both verbally and written in English Motivated to get tasks completed in a timely manner with minimal supervision Ability to frequently lift/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds A Criminal Records Check is required Possession of a valid Alberta driver's license and reliable transportation

Casual:

Minimum 8 hours per week

Rate:

$26.00 per hour
