Overview:Under the general supervision and direction of the Manager, Plant Operations Hydro the incumbent is responsible for for providing general maintenance and upgrade work to any building within the Energy South Division as assigned. From time to time this position may also support building maintenance and upgrade work in the Energy North Division as assigned.Building Maintainer performs maintenance tasks to ensure NTPCs building asset are in good condition and compliant with all applicable codes and regulations as assigned. They perform routine checks on numerous systems, and they respond to maintenance requests regarding specific problems with all aspects of a building. The incumbent will also plan and construct supporting building infrastructure. Responsibilities:

• Responsible to provide general construction skills meeting all local codes and regulations.
• Performs and assists work orders on primary generation buildings, supporting infrastructure buildings and administration buildings and offices as per preventative and corrective maintenance scheduled by the Manager along with opening and closing the assigned work orders in the NTPC electronic Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). This work may occur at the Jackfish worksite in Yellowknife but will also include work at remote hydro generation locations Bluefish, Snare and Taltson as well as remote diesel communities and sites including Franks Channel, Wha ti, Gameti, Lutsel Ke, Fort Resolution, Fort Smith, and Pine Point. From time-to-time work may be located in one of the Energy North Divisional communities.
• Performs routine checks on numerous systems, and respond to maintenance requests regarding specific problems with all aspects of a building
• Must possess carpentry, plumbing, roofing, masonry, painting, and landscaping skills
• Supervises, assists and reports progress of NTPCs contractors for plant maintenance or upgrade work as and when needed
• Applies, receives and interprets Safety Work Protection Code applications; de-energizes and isolates/energizes and returns to buildings and services within the building back to service per Work Protection Code procedures.
• Effectively communicates the overall operation of the building and the services within the building.
• Reads and interprets drawings, diagrams, schematics and specifications of a variety of types of building systems, equipment, including manufacturer's manuals and parts books.
• You will be required to provide training to and receive training from co-workers, as we as perform other responsibilities in applicable areas within your work unit as assigned by the Manager/supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Red Seal Carpenter Journeyperson Certification required.
• Ten years of industry experience with a minimum of five years of commercial experience required.
• Good planning, troubleshooting, organizational and communications skills.
• Proficient in computer applications such as email communications, spreadsheets, word processing software and CMMS.
• Ability to read off blueprints as well as interpret drawings, diagrams and specifications of a variety of types of electrical and mechanical equipment, including manufacturers manuals and parts books.
• Team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Valid Class 5 drivers license or equivalent required
• Must undergo a Successful Criminal Records check.

Salary for this position ranges from $50.05/hr-$60.81/hr, plus a location allowance of approximately $4,642 per annum.
