ISL has been awarded some of the most exiting projects done in Alberta and we are seeking our next Bridge Technologist to join the team!

We are flexible with the start date and look to have the successful applicant start by July 2025.

Your approach to new and emerging technology and practices How you build and maintain effective client and contractor relationships

Your resume should show us:



Diploma or Degree related to: Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology and/or Engineering Design and Drafting Technology Knowledge of drafting and design using AutoDesk (Civil 3D and AutoCAD) products Experience with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA S6:19) and other Canadian design standards and procedures Experience with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridor's bridge design practices, policies, procedures, guidelines and manuals

Bonus Points for:



Experience with tender preparation, specification writing and cost estimation. Experience in construction contract administration and supervision Previous co-op or work experience in civil engineering design and inspection Working knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud Construction survey experience BIM certification(s) Precast concrete or steel girder fabrication inspection experience (ex. PCI or CWB certification)

A Little More About the Role

We are looking for a well rounded technologist with an ability to be involved in all phases of a bridge project. Your projects will primarily be located in the ISL Lethbridge office, but you will have the opportunity to work on multidisciplinary projects across all of the ISL offices. If you are interested in this role but your experience doesn't perfectly align with our requirements of this role, we encourage you to apply anyway!

We are flexible with the start date and look to have the successful applicant start by July 2025. You will require and must maintain a valid Class 5 Alberta Operator's License. A company vehicle may be provided. Increased working hours during the construction season may be required.

While no two days will look alike, your primary responsibilities will include:

Preparing designs and estimates from general instructions and/or preliminary sketches, diagrams or schematics Recommending modifications and changes for design improvement and simplification, and preparing working drawings from conceptual layouts to detailed finished products Project coordination: prepare/assemble project deliverables, develop basic to mid-level designs/layouts, prepare basic design calculations, quantity take offs, manage multiple responsibilities in an interdisciplinary environment Completion of drawings with 3D models Leveraging your effective communication, interpersonal and analytical skills to collaborate and coordinate with other ISL disciplines to meet multi-discipline and client needs Applying a practical approach to work - balance requirements and the numbers to ensure that projects meet the needs of our clients Mentoring and cross training staff as well as making recommendations for efficiencies Other related duties as required
