Job Description

The Breeder Farm Supervisor will manage a group of staff on multiple farm sites. Responsibilities include orienting, training, and coaching staff. The Breeder Farm Supervisor will develop work schedules, assign, and monitor work, implement new procedures, assist with budgets, track expenses, and monitor variances.


The Breeder Farm Supervisor will work as part of a team ensuring the company's animal husbandry practices are followed as well as promoting safe work practices of staff.

Schedule


This is a full-time salaried position working on average 40 hours a week. Varying hours, weekend, on-calls and holiday work may be required depending on operational requirements.

Position Requirements



• Monitor barn conditions and production data such as feed and water consumption, body weights, lighting programs, egg production, barn and egg storage temperatures, litter and nest conditions, and bird health and selection.
• Ensure operations are following and comply with the CHEQ Program.
• Develop and maintain the annual breeder barn operations budget.
• Oversee month end inventory, and order supplies as required.
• Audit vaccination to ensure correct amounts for operational needs.
• Ensure operators and frontline teams have all the supplies they require.
• General management or males to ensure health and welfare needs are met.
• Complete pre-placement chick checks to ensure the barn is ready.
• Complete and analyze various production reporting as required.
• Support the Breeder Farm Manager to develop cost effective work schedules
• Assist with interviews and onboarding new hires
• Train, engage, monitor staff performance
• Foster a positive team environment that promotes teamwork
• Ensure optimal barn conditions prior to bird placement by completing inspections
• Complete monthly safety inspections and ensure a safe work environment
• Provide an environment free of animal cruelty, abuse and/or neglect for our poultry
• Protect the organization's value by keeping all protected and proprietary information confidential
• Ensure bio security protocols are adhered to
• Promote, educate and ensure a high level of animal welfare
• Follow and promote all safety processes and procedures
• All other duties as assigned
Position Accountabilities



• Minimum 1 year experience in supervisory role is preferred.
• Post-secondary education in Agriculture, a biology-based discipline or Business, or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
• Pleasant, outgoing personality, with a friendly positive approach to employee relations
• Good time management skills and ability to prioritize work
• Good computer skills - Excel, Word documents, and industry specific programs
• High attention to detail.
• Strong commitment to health & safety
• Ability to make decisions under pressure
Working Conditions




The position operates indoors in a farm/barn environment, as well as outside. The work environment may be warm and humid, cold in the winter months, dusty at times with strong odors, and noisy. Standing for long periods of time and repetitive tasks are common. Proper safety footwear and respirators are required and supplied with additional PPE available upon request.
