The Breakfast Cook is responsible for preparing and executing breakfast and brunch dishes with consistency, efficiency, and a high level of quality. This role requires excellent time management, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work quickly during high-volume morning services while maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation and Service
Prepare and execute all breakfast and brunch menu items according to established recipes and standards
Cook eggs, proteins, pancakes, waffles, pastries, and other hot breakfast items with accuracy
Set up and stock the breakfast station prior to the start of service
Maintain speed, organization, and consistency during peak service periods
Plate dishes neatly and according to presentation standards
Communicate clearly with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service flow
Food Safety and Sanitation
Comply with all food safety and sanitation regulations
Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times
Label, date, rotate, and properly store food products (FIFO)
Monitor food temperatures and ensure proper product holding
Clean equipment, surfaces, and work areas after service
Preparation and Inventory
Complete daily prep lists and maintain par levels for morning service
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries as needed
Inform the Chef or Sous Chef of inventory shortages, quality concerns, or equipment issues
Reduce food waste through proper handling and portion control
Teamwork and Professionalism
Work collaboratively with cooks, dishwashers, and front-of-house staff
Follow instructions from the Chef and Sous Chef
Maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced and demanding environment
Assist other stations when needed
Qualifications and Skills
Previous experience as a Breakfast Cook or Line Cook (an asset)
Strong knowledge of breakfast and brunch cooking techniques
Availability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays
Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask
Ability to perform under pressure in a dynamic environment
Knowledge of food safety standards and best kitchen practices
Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs)
Work Schedule
Early morning shifts (typically starting at 6:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m.)
Weekends and holidays required based on business needs
