The Breakfast Cook is responsible for preparing all food items, based on standardized recipes during our hours of operation while maintaining the highest standards to produce an appealing and appetizing product. He/she is also responsible for ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in the kitchen and work areas while minimizing waste and maximizing the cost/production ratio. What you will do as a Breakfast Cook

  • Meet to discuss daily production and preparation plan with the Chef de Cuisine
  • Prepare and cook menu as provided by the Chef de Cuisine
  • Follow portion and cost controls.
  • Follow all recipes for food items.
  • Maintain reasonable cooking time during line work.
  • Follow health and safety regulations.
  • Report all faulty equipment to supervisor.
  • Work in direct coordination with all staff.
  • Follow all daily duty rosters.
  • Follow the FIFO method to maximize quality.
  • Ensure high quality and presentation of all food.
What you will need for the role
  • 3-4 years cooking experience in the cooking trade
  • A culinary diploma/degree is an asset
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum eighteen (18) years of age to handle alcoholic beverages.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food service and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, preparation and presentation required.
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills, including the ability to give directions, converse with customers.
  • Highly flexible, with solid communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertaining to the restaurant industry.
  • Self-motivated, with a positive attitude and a consistent display of professionalism.
  • Acquire and maintain a strong knowledge of trends in the food industry.
  • Highly effective teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Must be able to work a schedule including evenings, weekends & holidays
  • This position will spend 100% of the time standing.
  • Transport up to 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds regularly.
  • Will be constantly exposed to high temperatures in the kitchen environment.
  • Manual dexterity is required to use knives and kitchen appliances.
