We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented
Press Brake Operator
to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating press brake machines to bend and form sheet metal components with precision and efficiency. Your expertise will contribute to the production of high-quality metal parts used across various industries. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machinery, develop your technical skills, and be part of a collaborative team dedicated to manufacturing excellence.
Duties
Set up and operate press brake machines, ensuring accurate bending according to detailed blueprints and technical drawings.
Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical specifications, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to produce precise parts.
Program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) press brakes for automated bending operations, optimizing machine performance.
Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and other tools to verify dimensions and ensure quality standards are met.
Conduct routine maintenance on press brake equipment, including tooling changes and adjustments for optimal operation.
Inspect finished parts for defects or deviations from specifications using quality inspection tools and techniques.
Collaborate with fabrication teams on sheet metal handling, tooling setups, and assembly processes.
Operate forklifts and cranes as needed for material handling within the production area.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
Assist in other machining or fabrication tasks such as CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, or welding when required.
Requirements
Proven experience operating press brake machines in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues quickly.
Proficiency in CNC programming and operation of CNC laser cutting, CNC milling machines, CNC lathe, or plasma cutting equipment is highly desirable.
Familiarity with blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and precision measurement instruments like micrometers and calipers.
Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for setup and measurement purposes.
Knowledge of sheet metal properties and fabrication techniques including tooling selection and setup.
Experience with hand tools, welding processes, electrical discharge machining (EDM), stamping presses, or other machining operations is a plus.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality inspection and adherence to safety standards.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least 3-5 years of experience in setting up and operating a brake press.
Working knowledge of Ermakson brake press is an asset.
Experience working in metal fabrication or related work preferred.
