Job Overview

Junction Academy BJJ is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled

Boxing Conditioning Instructor

to lead dynamic and technique-driven classes. These sessions will focus on

teaching solid boxing fundamentals

(including stance, footwork, various punches, and defensive movements) through engaging drills, pad work, and conditioning exercises. While providing an excellent overall workout, the primary aim of our

Boxing Conditioning

program is to build genuine striking skills, enhance cardiovascular fitness, power, and coordination, specifically to supplement our members' BJJ training.

This is a fantastic opportunity to become an integral part of a vibrant and growing martial arts community in Toronto.

Class Schedule:



Tuesdays:

7:30 PM - 8:30 PM (Boxing Conditioning)

Future Additional Class:

Potential for a second/third weekly class

Key Responsibilities:



Design and deliver engaging and effective 1-hour Boxing Conditioning classes that

prioritize the instruction and progressive development of proper boxing fundamentals

while providing an excellent overall workout suitable for various fitness levels. Clearly instruct and demonstrate core boxing techniques (stance, footwork, punches, combinations, defensive skills) ensuring participants understand the mechanics for effectiveness and injury prevention. Provide individualized feedback and corrections to help members improve their technique. Assist members with essential preparations like hand wrapping and ensure a safe training environment at all times. Motivate and inspire members, fostering a positive, inclusive, energetic, and empowering class atmosphere where learning and fitness go hand-in-hand. Manage class setup and light cleanup of boxing equipment (e.g., focus mitts, Thai pads, gloves). Actively promote your classes and gym programs within the Junction Academy BJJ community. Embody an upbeat, encouraging, reliable, and professional personality.

What We're Looking For:



Experience:



Proven experience teaching group boxing classes where the

instruction of fundamental boxing techniques was a key component

, alongside fitness conditioning. A personal background in boxing (amateur or other) demonstrating a strong understanding of the art is highly preferred. Experience or familiarity with a martial arts gym environment is a plus.

Certifications/Qualifications (Please list any you hold):



Recognized boxing coaching or boxing fitness/conditioning instructor certification that includes technical training is highly desirable (e.g., Boxing Ontario coach education levels, NCCP Boxing, or other reputable certifications emphasizing technique). General group fitness or personal training certifications (e.g., CanFitPro FIS/PTS, CSEP-CPT) are considered an asset. Valid First Aid & CPR/AED certification

Skills:



Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to

clearly articulate and break down boxing techniques

and provide constructive feedback. Excellent motivational abilities and an energetic, engaging teaching style.

Proficiency in demonstrating and teaching correct boxing fundamentals and drills progressively.

Ability to modify exercises and class structure for different fitness levels and abilities while maintaining technical integrity. Good understanding of basic exercise physiology and injury prevention related to authentic boxing training.

Personality:

We have focus mitts, Thai pads, and some boxing gloves for members to borrow (though members will be encouraged to acquire their own). Hand wraps are available for sale.

Pay: From $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 - 3 per week
