Legal Bookkeeper

We are currently seeking an experienced

Legal Bookkeeper

with hands-on Clio Manage experience to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of legal accounting principles, excellent working knowledge of trust accounting in compliance with LSO and Law Society guidelines, and a proven ability to support the financial operations in a law firm environment.

Key Skills & Experience







Proficient in trust accounting and compliance with LSO and Law Society guidelines. Skilled in Clio Manage, including:

+ Matter-level billing and WIP management
+ Accounts receivable (AR) tracking and follow-up
+ Trust and operating account management
+ Bank reconciliations
Experienced with Clio integrations, including QuickBooks Online, payment processors, and document management tools. Extensive knowledge of legal billing cycles, including retainer replenishments and trust-to-general transfers. Strong understanding of law firm accounting principles, including WIP, AR, AP, and disbursements. Ability to generate, analyze, and interpret Clio financial reports, including:

+ A/R aging
+ WIP
+ Trust listings
+ Firm and associate performance reports
Skilled in maintaining audit-ready records and supporting year-end reconciliations. Effective communicator, capable of working collaboratively with lawyers, clerks, and finance team members.

Key Responsibilities







Report directly to the Director of Finance and support daily and monthly bookkeeping operations. Prepare and distribute monthly collection reports and weekly trust management reports to associates. Conduct client outreach on outstanding receivables and manage files referred to collections. Ensure proper GL coding and allocation of firm expenses. Attend regular review meetings with the Director of Finance. Post operating account and credit card expenses accurately in QuickBooks Online. Day to day reconciliation of all accounts. Maintain accurate financial records to meet compliance and audit standards. Assist with payroll processing and employee expense reimbursements.

Qualifications







Minimum 2+ years of experience in a legal bookkeeping or law firm accounting role. Proficiency with Clio Manage and QuickBooks Online is required. Strong working knowledge of LSO trust compliance and legal accounting best practices. Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and confidentiality. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment. Must have legal bookkeeping experience
