Bookkeeper

Street Haven is a dynamic women's multi-service agency that provides shelter, supportive housing, training supports, and addictions therapy to vulnerable women in Toronto. We were established in 1965 and serve 1500 individuals annually. We have seen an increasing complexity of mental health and addiction needs among our clients. We are seeking a qualified and passionate candidate to take on this temporary role who can be part of our high performing team and provide comprehensive support to improve the lives of our clients.

Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified candidate who can be part of our high performing team and provide much needed supports in bookkeeping. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the organization's financial integrity. Key responsibilitiesAccounting, Financial Reporting and Analysis



Process incoming invoices, ensuring timely payments to vendors and service providers and record them in QuickBooks in the correct cost centers. Schedule weekly payment runs including ACH/EFT, Bill Pay, cheques in a timely manner and prepare backups for approvals. Submit payment advise to vendors. Maintain accurate records of accounts receivable. Make online bank deposits and occasionally in person cash deposits at the bank Ensures payroll related submissions are completed such as union dues and retirement plans Monitor and record incoming funds, such as donations and grants, and issue receipts or tax receipts as necessary. Complete month-end reconciliation for bank, Credit Cards, Petty Cash accounts. Prepare monthly departmental actuals vs budgeted financial reports Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements for the Finance Committee. Ensure that expense approval by managers are in compliance financial policies and procedures

Annual Audit Support and Statutory Reporting



Assist in Annual Audit preparation, including supporting schedules, and other information for the annual external financial audit. Assist in statutory returns preparation, including T3010, HST Rebate and EHT reports

Other Financial Administrative Duties



As required

Qualifications and requirements Education



Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance or Administration Minimum of 3 years work-related experience in bookkeeping Professional designation is considered an asset, not a requirement

Knowledge, skills and attributes



Bookkeeping experience required, minimum of 3 years Experience with QuickBooks Online and RBC Express is an asset Good knowledge of Excel Exhibit strong time management skills, ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, consistency and ability to self-view Understanding of non-profit financial environment is an asset Proven understanding of financial statements and proven knowledge of financial analysis, variance analysis, and forecasting Strong team-player Ability to learn new concepts and tasks quickly, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Excellent technical learning, analytical, and problem-solving skills Strong communication and writing skills

Hours & Location:

This is a regular full-time position (40 hours per week, 5-day work week), reports at Admin Office all 5 days.
