Who We Are



Peters Excavating Ltd. is a Saskatchewan-based construction and excavation company serving communities since 1956. We specialize in earthwork, grading, site servicing, demolition, concrete removal, and related civil projects of all sizes. We are looking for a full-time Bookkeeper to support day-to-day operations.

About the Role



As a Bookkeeper at Peters Excavating, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and payroll functions that support both office and field operations. This is a hands-on role that requires accuracy, organization, and strong communication. You'll work closely with the General Manager to ensure financial records, payroll, and job costing information are complete, accurate, and up to date.

Key Responsibilities



Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and customer inquiries

Process accounts payable and maintain accurate vendor records

Prepare and post general ledger entries and maintain accounting records

Process payroll, including timecards, employee changes, benefits, RRSPs, and Records of Employment

Prepare and submit government filings and remittances (source deductions, GST, PST, WCB, income tax installments)

Complete WCB reporting and maintain related records

Perform job costing and support job progress claims for contract work

Reconcile balance sheet accounts and analyze profit and loss accounts

Prepare bank deposits and reconcile petty cash

Maintain financial documentation and filing systems (digital and hard copy)

Communicate with departments to ensure timely, accurate financial information

Support administrative tasks including mail handling and office equipment coordination

Follow company policies, safety procedures, and participate in required training

Qualifications



Business Accountancy Diploma or equivalent education

1-2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, fixed asset and internal-use software accounting experience is an asset

Experience with job costing and payroll processes

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (ACCPAC/Sage experience preferred)

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Professional discretion when handling confidential information

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Expected hours: 40 per week
