About the role:
We are a leading cannabis company in British Columbia, Canada. We are committed to providing high-quality cannabis products to our customers. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team.
As the Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for our cannabis company. You will report directly to the Financial Controller and work closely with other members of the finance team. You will be expected to:
Duties and responsibilities (include and are not limited to):
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring all invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements.
Prepare GST/HST returns.
Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
Prepare weekly pay runs by summarizing outstanding accounts payable.
Assist the Financial Controller in the preparation of management reports.
Interact with customers and vendors to resolve differences in balances.
Liaise with external auditors as required.
Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable.
Request and organize receipts from management.
Match purchase orders with receiving documents and invoices.
Enter received inventory amounts into inventory management system.
Potential for ad hoc projects.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications/competencies:
A diploma or degree in accounting or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a cannabis or related industry.
Knowledge working with QuickBooks and ERP systems.
Advanced proficiency using Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook.
Understanding of Cannabis Regulations, cannabis extract products, of cannabis, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing preferred.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong ability to multitask, problem solve, and meet deadlines.
Flexible and open to new tasks and projects.
Knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations preferred.
Punctual and reliable.
