Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our Calgary-based team. In this role, you will be responsible for full-cycle bookkeeping, payroll processing, GST returns, and year-end adjustments using QuickBooks Online and Excel. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of Canadian accounting practices and government filings, and can work independently to manage day-to-day financial operations with accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Financial Records:
Maintain accurate records in QuickBooks Online, ensuring completeness and compliance with accounting standards.
Payroll & Source Remittances:
Process payroll, calculate wages, and submit payroll tax remittances.
Government Filings:
Prepare and submit GST returns, Records of Employment (ROEs), and other filings in accordance with CRA regulations.
Year-End Adjustments:
Assist with closing the books and preparing year-end financials.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
Input and manage AP and AR entries, reconcile accounts, and maintain vendor/client communications.
Opening Balances:
Input and reconcile opening balances at the start of new fiscal periods.
Client Communication:
Liaise with clients to obtain missing documents, clarify entries, and ensure smooth financial processing.
Daily Financial Operations:
Handle day-to-day financial activities such as banking, invoicing, receivables tracking, and payment processing.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or a related financial role.
Technical Skills:
Proficient with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel. Comfortable with cloud-based accounting platforms.
Knowledge Areas:
Canadian payroll and tax regulations; GST/HST reporting and remittance; Full-cycle accounting principles.
Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills; Excellent organizational and time management skills; Effective written and verbal communication; Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks; Strong customer service and interpersonal abilities.
Compensation & Work Schedule
Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000, depending on experience
Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Location: On-site in Calgary SE
