About This Opportunity We are seeking a highly professional and safety conscious individual with a passion for Boating and Diving to manage all aspects of boating and diving operations at UQs Moreton Bay Research Station. As the Boating and Diving Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating, scheduling and supervising boating, diving and ensuring that all aspects of these operations are carried out with the highest standards of safety, risk mitigation, preventative maintenance, and record keeping. Some key responsibilities include:
Co-ordinate, schedule and supervise boating, diving and snorkelling activities.
Operate and supervise use of boats, including launching and retrieving.
Maintain accurate records of diving qualifications, dive medicals, first aid qualifications, oxygen provision qualifications, boating licences, marine radio operators qualifications, dive records and risk assessments. Where appropriate, this will be done in conjunction with the University Boating and Diving Officer.
Provide vessel, diving and snorkelling inductions to cliental.
Meet with the clients (academics, researchers and education coordinators) to ensure that customer objectives are being met.
Responsible for the development and implementation of preventative maintenance and repairs of boating and diving equipment, with emphasis on life support equipment and safety equipment.
You may also be required to be rostered \'on call\' for a number of hours each week. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for up to 12 months. At HEW level 5, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $74,378.89 to $82,842.92, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $87,023.30 to $96,926.22 annually. About You
Completion of a degree without subsequent relevant work-related experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
ADAS Part 1 or Scientific SCUBA Diver Certificate or equivalent.
Coxswains Class 1 NC qualification.
Drivers license with the ability to drive a manual 4WD.
Knowledge of laboratory procedures and of common-use scientific equipment.
Competency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word. A basic knowledge in Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server would also be desirable.
Excellent organisational and communication skills, and ability to deal professionally with competing interests from multiple clients in a customer service environment.
Ability to work in a small team environment in a remote location.
