Cape Carraholly Retreat is a water-access only hospitality retreat offering guests off-the-grid experiences in an oceanfront property with our upscale yurts, lodges, and event venue. Our mission is to deliver exceptional service to guests from the moment they begin their journey with our boat shuttle service, creating a seamless experience that allows them to relax and reconnect with nature. Cape Carraholly Retreat opened in the fall of 2022 and currently has four 3-bedroom lodges and 6 glamping units including 5 yurts, and 1 dome. The 75-acre property is located within the jurisdiction of the City of Port-Moody and the border of Belcarra District in the Greater Vancouver area. In addition to offering short-term rentals, we also host a variety of events, including weddings, film productions, and content creation, in collaboration with entrepreneurial partners. We encourage guests to immerse themselves in the outdoors by taking advantage of our on-site amenities including kayaks, a sauna, a beach shack, an outdoor gazebo, and hiking trails.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The
Boat & Property Maintenance Contractor
is responsible for the maintenance of 2 outboard Mercury boats, 2 on-site vehicles (side-by-side and Daihatsu truck), and various property maintenance tasks. Our ideal candidate is experienced with boats, confident in mechanical and maintenance tasks, and thrives in an outdoor environment. We are seeking a hands-on, people-oriented professional to help keep our operations smooth, our guests happy, and our property in top shape. If you are a self-starter, who proactively keeps busy and can work with minimal supervision, we would love to hear from you. The ideal candidate would live in the Port Moody area and be willing to respond to emergency boat mechanical issues promptly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Boat Maintenance
Conduct 100-Hour service, 200-Hour service and other maintenance tasks to outboard motors
Log monthly maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the boat
Respond to mechanical issues promptly and perform troubleshooting
Coordinate with marine service providers for advanced mechanical work or periodic servicing
Vehicle Maintenance
Perform and log maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and reliable operation of on-site vehicles
Respond to mechanical issues promptly and perform troubleshooting
Property Maintenance
Facilitate basic plumbing repairs including leaks, faulty fixtures, and drainage to prevent flooding around structures
Assist with basic septic system monitoring and reporting issues
Maintain water systems for outdoor cookhouses, outdoor showers, and hot tubs
Complete minor landscaping tasks
Maintain the overall upkeep of the property
Hands-on experience with boat maintenance,vehicle maintenance, and general property maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry
Organizational Skills:
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, be self-motivated and capable of working independently, and respond to maintenance or guest needs efficiently
Outdoor Competence:
Comfortable working in remote, outdoor settings in various weather conditions
Passion about the outdoors and working with people in a nature-centered environment
Physical Fitness:
Capable of lifting heavy items (e.g., luggage, supplies), walking uneven terrain, and performing physical tasks
Emergency Preparedness:
Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain); knowledge of marine and remote-area safety practices
Team Player:
Willing to collaborate with a small team, take initiative and demonstrate leadership skills
Adaptability
Adaptable to changing operational needs, responding with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach
