Mikaaming Mino Pimatiziwin Healing Lodge Inc (MMPHL) is a family addictions treatment facility
located in Sagkeeng, Manitoba. We offer a seven-week traditional and holistic treatment
program in a residential setting for First Nation & Inuit families struggling to overcome drug and
alcohol addictions. MMPHL is currently looking for a Board Member to act in a governance role
for the organization, representing Northern Manitoba.
General Duties:
The Board of Directors are responsible for overseeing the work of MMPHL and for carrying out
the policies and directives of the Corporation as determined by the Corporation's membership at
any general or special meeting. The Board governs through policy approval, monitoring,
reviewing, and decision making. All Board Directors will act in good faith, ethically and honestly
with the best interests of the Corporation. Directors will demonstrate the Seven Grandfather
Teachings in their conduct.
Qualifications:
A person committed to the mission of the Organization shall:
• be at least 18 years of age;
• must be a registered Band member located in Northern Manitoba;
• not be a Chief or Council Member of a First Nation;
• demonstrate a commitment to a healthy lifestyle and long-term wellness within their
community;
• strong foundation of values based in wellness and supporting healing for people who
use substances;
• must be able to provide clear Criminal Records Checks and Child Abuse Registry
Check;
• willing to commit to a minimum three-year term;
• have the ability to actively participate in Board deliberations; and
• not be of undischarged bankruptcy.
