JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Chief Psychologist, the Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) will take the lead role in coordinating and supporting the efforts of multi-disciplinary school and regional teams by providing consultation, training, and resource development including the deployment of resources and services. The role will provide very specialized services in a tiered approach throughout the UCDSB and will assist in the development of board/department planning for students with behavioural needs.
The Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst will provide behavioural consultation and/or assessment regarding evidence-based strategies and interventions at the school level for individual students. The Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst may represent the Board with community partners and the Ministry, when appropriate.
In coordination with our community partners, the Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst will provide ongoing system wide professional development for elementary and secondary school staff through the coordination of in-service opportunities to extend awareness and use of evidence-based strategies to support students with behavioural challenges and others as required.
Skills Required:
Extensive knowledge and experience working with professionals who support students with behavioural challenges
Understanding of self-regulation as it relates to behavioural intervention
Strong knowledge of functional behavioural assessment (FBA) process
Strong understanding of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) strategies
Proven behavioural intervention experience with children/youth with ASD and/or other complex needs
Demonstrated ability/experience working within a consultative model
Proficiency in planning and delivering adult education
Knowledge of the elementary and secondary education system in Ontario
Knowledge and implementation of school board policies, regulations and procedures
Competencies in the development, delivery and evaluation of training programs and strategies in face to face and virtual setting
Successful experience working collaboratively with community partners
Superior interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Excellent organizational and coordinating skills
Strong analytical, assessment and intervention skills
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Understanding of relevant legal and confidentiality issues pertaining to children and adolescents and document storage and retention
Duties & Responsibilities:
Using evidence-based strategies, enhances educators' knowledge, skills, and practices,
with respect to the characteristics of students with behavioural challenges
in teaching strategies to improve communication, social skills and self-regulation of students with behavioural challenges,
in reviewing environmental supports/structures that can lead to greater success for students with behavioural challenges.
Develops and teaches professional development courses and workshops to UCDSB school teams who work with students with behavioural challenges.
Fosters positive relationships between school, parents and community through consultation and collaboration with school and regional teams, parents/guardians, and community service providers (e.g., participates in school team meetings, regional SST meetings).
Provides consultation and coaching for school staff and administrators on effective learning strategies and techniques for students with behavioural challenges.
Develops evidence-based resources and documents related to behavioural interventions that support educators throughout the Board.
Provides consultation and professional development for school personnel in order to share recent developments in behavioral strategies and interventions and related fields.
Attends workshops and conferences to continually update knowledge of ABA strategies and other evidence-based strategies and how they relate to educational practices and their role.
Conducts literature reviews to ensure the most recent and relevant information is being incorporated into trainings, consultations, and resources.
Demonstrates responsive practices which reflect multiple cultural and social perspectives and are respectful of diversity.
Travels extensively throughout the Board region to provide consultation, training and supports to schools
Perform other related professional duties as assigned
Working Conditions:
The BCBA works in a broad continuum of school settings throughout the UCDSB region.
Travel for school board business and to various assigned school sites including during the workday, is required. Evening meetings may be required from time to time

Generally agreeable working conditions as those found in schools or equivalent work areas. May include exposure to demanding/angry people, noise, infectious and communicable diseases.
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
Education:
Completion of a Master's degree in applied behavioral analysis.
Certified as a BCBA with the Behaviour Analytic Certification Board, in good standing.
Current Behaviour Management System certification.
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years related experience working in an educational or related setting within a multi-disciplinary team.
