The Wolastoqey Tribal Council Inc. (WTCI) is a not-for-profit organization supporting five Wolastoqey communities in New Brunswick: Matawaskiye, Wotstak, Bilijk, Sitansisk, and Welamukotuk. WTCI builds capacity in Health, Education, Training & Employment, Governance, and Emergency Management.
WTCI's Education Team supports children, youth and caregivers through a holistic integrated service delivery model called Wasisok Tomk (Kids First). Through our holistic approach we honour the whole person, including their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs, while celebrating their strengths and differences. This approach recognizes that all aspects of a person's life are interconnected and supports them in living a balanced life.
The BCBA will work as part of a trauma-informed interdisciplinary team to provide behaviour analysis services for Wolastoqey children, youth, and families, particularly those impacted by developmental challenges, behavioural needs, or neurodiverse diagnoses. This role includes conducting assessments, designing and implementing behavior intervention plans, training caregivers and staff, and supporting community programs in a culturally sensitive manner.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop individualized behavior intervention plans tailored to the needs of Indigenous children and youth.
Deliver evidence-based interventions while respecting and integrating Indigenous values, traditions, and ways of knowing.
Collaborate with caregivers, educators, health professionals, and other team members to support children and youth in various settings, including home, school, and community.
Train and mentor support workers, caregivers, and other staff in behavior analysis techniques.
Monitor progress, adjust intervention strategies, and provide ongoing support to ensure sustainable and culturally sensitive outcomes.
Engage with the community to educate and advocate for behavioral health services that meet the specific needs of Wolastoqey families.
Maintain thorough documentation and prepare progress reports as required by regulatory and funding agencies.
Participate in cultural awareness and competency training as provided by the organization and integrate these principles into all service delivery.
Other duties that support team and organization initiatives.
What We're Looking For
Required:
Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, or a related field.
Current BCBA certification (in good standing) from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) - or a plan to be certified soon.
Experience working with Indigenous populations, preferably in community-based or outreach settings.
Experience supporting developmental challenges, behavioural needs, or neurodiverse diagnoses children and youth.
Understanding of, and willingness to learn about, Wolastoqey culture, history, and language, with a commitment to culturally appropriate, holistic and trauma-informed practices.
Proficiency in conducting assessments, developing intervention plans, and training others in behavior analysis.
Self-motivated and ability to work independently, while demonstrating strong collaboration skills when supporting and working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Ability to work collaboratively with community members and professionals within Indigenous and non-Indigenous settings.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
Ability to travel to communities and surrounding areas as needed.
Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
Valid driver's license, registered vehicle, and insurance
Completed Policy 701 training
Assets:
Valid First Aid & CPR certification
Experience supporting neurodiverse children and youth
Experience working in Indigenous communities
Verbal and written communication skills Wolastoqey and/or French language
Training in trauma-informed practices and a demonstrated understanding of the impacts of colonization and intergenerational trauma on Indigenous communities.

Remuneration is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Wolastoqey Tribal Council Inc. offers competitive salary and benefits to our employees. The salary range for this position is $60,000.00 - $80,000.00. Working location is 35 Dedham Street, Sitansisk (Fredericton New Brunswick).
