We are looking for Operators in training - Blown Film Extrusion Operators, a key role in our organization and in our growth. If you are interested in making an impact and being part of a growing organization, this position is for you.

This role is on a rotational schedule allowing work-life balance (12-hour shifts days and/or nights).

As an

Extrusion Operator in Training you will be working towards the following roles and responsibilities to become a competent fully trained Extrusion Operator:

Roles and responsibilities



Safe operation of a three-layer/and or mono-layer blown film extrusion system. Make extruder adjustments according to already established working methods to maximize productivity. Perform machine start-ups, shutdowns, and blend changeovers. Assist with preventive maintenance (lubrication, cleaning of rollers, die, machine, reporting wear parts). Troubleshoot common process issues such as gauge variation, gels, haze, or die lines. Document process parameters and maintain production logs for traceability. Support reel changes, winding operations, and packaging of finished rolls. Identify and report equipment malfunctions to maintenance promptly. Safely handle and transport resin boxes to the extruder hopper, following all safety guidelines. Weigh, measure, and feed resins according to production orders and formulations. Ensure proper labeling and traceability of resins during production. Clean and return empty resin boxes to storage, maintaining organization and preventing contamination. Minimize scrap and waste and follow recycling/sustainability initiatives. Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and hazard reporting. Collaborate with shift leads and maintenance technicians to optimize production. Ensure the quality of the finished product while following all health and safety standards. Conduct continuous quality checks throughout production runs. Use AutoCount to record material usage/change and track production jobs. Accurately log resin consumption, machine run times, and production output in real time. Follow a 'clean as you go' policy keeping all areas tidy on site to ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP), Operation Clean Sweep, and BRCGS food safety standards. Monitoring machine performance to maintain output, quality and waste targets while minimizing downtime. Ability to perform multiple tasks/work autonomously, competently within a fast-paced manufacturing production environment. Lead a team of Extrusion Assistants to proficiently maintain all production requirements and targets. All other duties as required.

Qualifications and experience



Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent, proficiency in reading, writing and basic math skills. Up to three years experience in the blown extrusion industry or similar manufacturing environment (co-extrusion experience an asset). Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Basic computer knowledge. Strong attention to detail oriented, well organized and the ability to follow processes and procedures. Resourceful, organized, flexible and a good communicator. Demonstrate leadership and team spirit qualities. Willing to assist others and lead by example through safe work practices. Have a logical and analytical thinking, with the ability to solve problems. Knowledge of BRCGS, GMP and ISO standards (an asset). Ability to work an alternating 12-hour shift schedule day shift and night shift. Ability to lift 50 pounds and physically fit to walk stairs regularly. Access to transportation or ability to travel to Leduc (limited bus service) on various shifts.
