Position Description:

Under the direction of the Managers, Visitor Experience, you will be facilitating friendly, fun, awesome, 'wow', memorable birthday parties at Science World. Birthday parties are themed, age-appropriate for children ages 3-12 and are delivered with our signature Science World flair. Your enthusiasm and inspiration will make every birthday child's party an unforgettable experience!

Important Availability Commitment:

This position requires maintaining an availability of at least 64 hours per month

. Shifts are generally Saturdays and Sundays and may include some weekday evenings for training purposes. Shifts are assigned weekly, and hours depend on the number of parties booked per week.



As a facility, Science World is generally open to the public seven days a week, with some extended evening hours in the summer months. Hours of work and other related requirements will be scheduled according to business needs, and this may include special events on evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide birthday party attendees with friendly, responsive service Ensure a safe, clean, secure environment for birthday party attendees Assist in the decoration of party rooms, greet party guests, and respond to their needs Present 30-minute science demonstrations for up to 50 people Facilitate age-appropriate birthday party activities and games Ensure sufficient party supplies are available and in working order Ensure smooth and timely transitions between parties Communicate changes in guest count and food orders Perform proficient operation of our ticketing and registration system (Advance Ticket Management System) with the processing and receipt of birthday party fees Assist in smooth operation of all ancillary services Operate within the philosophy, culture and values of Science World Perform other related duties as required to fulfill any changing business needs of this role

Qualifications:

Must be responsible, self-motivated, and enthusiastic Ability to be flexible, adapt to unexpected situations, and multitask Demonstrated ability to work well with children and their adults Excellent communication skills and ability to work under strict time constraints Previous experience working in customer service, or other relevant experience Proven ability to speak and present before audiences of varying size and composition Experience using cash registers, ticket terminals, computerized sales systems, databases, and Microsoft Office considered an asset Must beavailable to work

64 hours per month

, including Saturdays and Sundays, and occasional weekday evenings Must be physically able to safely lift at least 12 kg




This is a unionized position represented by CUPE 1004. The compensation rate is $20.66/hour.



After successfully completing probation, will be eligible to join the Voluntary RRSP/TFSA Plan and receive paid time off (sick, wellness days).
