About the role
We're looking for a Bioinformatics Support Engineer to join our Customer Experience team at Seqera. This is an ideal role for a recent graduate or early-career bioinformatician who wants to jump-start their career in production bioinformatics and scientific computing.
This is a support role - but not your typical one. As a Bioinformatics Support Engineer, you'll become a trusted technical partner to researchers working on some of the most pressing problems in health and life sciences. You'll gain first-hand exposure to the inner workings of production-scale bioinformatics pipelines, cloud and HPC environments, and cutting-edge tools like Nextflow.
As part of a collaborative team, you'll learn from experienced engineers and bioinformaticians, support a wide range of customers from nimble biotech startups to global research institutes, and contribute to projects that sit at the intersection of science and infrastructure. If you're curious, resourceful, and eager to learn by doing, this role will accelerate your growth and open the door to a range of technical career paths.
What You'll Do
Engage directly with customers to troubleshoot and resolve issues across the Seqera ecosystem, including infrastructure, pipelines, and third-party tools.
Support users running Nextflow-based workflows, including both nf-core and custom pipelines.
Build deep product and Nextflow expertise to understand life sciences workflows and deliver effective, scalable solutions.
Collaborate with senior support and bioinformatics team members to triage, escalate, and resolve complex technical challenges.
Contribute to and maintain technical documentation and knowledge articles to support both internal teams and customers.
Act as the voice of the customer, providing actionable feedback to product and engineering teams to help shape product direction.
About you
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Familiarity with Nextflow and/or other workflow management systems (e.g., Snakemake, WDL).
Experience writing, running, or modifying bioinformatics pipelines in an academic or professional setting.
Comfortable working in a Linux command-line environment and with scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
Curious and eager to learn more about cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Strong communication skills - able to explain technical concepts to a range of users.
Enjoys solving problems, helping others, and being part of a collaborative team.
You will serve as the primary support contact for our West Coast customers (
Mountain timezone hours
).
Nice to have
(but not required):
Exposure to sequencing technologies (e.g., RNA-seq, ATAC-seq) or common bioinformatics tools.
Experience using Git/GitHub for code management.
Familiarity with how HPC schedulers (e.g., Slurm) or cloud batch systems work.
Research experience in a computational or technical role.

At Seqera, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you're excited about this role and your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway.
