Fair Legal has an amazing opportunity for an experienced Billing Specialist/Clerk to join our growing team! We are located along the Beltline District in downtown Calgary, we are expanding into a new office space (same building, but on the other side of the floor that is almost double in size) and recently added some new employees to our growing team. Fair Legal specializes in family law, civil litigation and criminal law. Our team is passionate about making a difference in the lives of our clients, providing quality service, teamwork and so much more!This position will be responsible for billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, collection calls, creating and analyzing reports for senior management. This position will also support the team with some basic Legal Assistant and administrative duties.What does the opportunity look like?

• Generate accurate and timely invoices that communicate to our clients the value of the legal services we provide.
• Communicate with clients regarding their billing inquiries and resolve any disputes or discrepancies in invoices.
• Maintain positive client relations by ensuring transparency and efficiency in the billing process.
• Work with firms professional staff and clients to ensure that trust retainers are maintained at level required for each client file.
• Oversee the receipt of payments and manage accounts receivable.
• Follow up on outstanding invoices and manage collections processes if necessary.
• Prepare trust payment requisitions for approval by firms Responsible Lawyer. Ensure trust account entries are accurate, complete and up-to-date.
• Data Entry: Enter/update time entries, expenses, and adjustments into our billing system. Maintain and update client and matter information as needed to ensure accuracy in billing records.
• Prepare billing reports and analysis for senior management.
• Manage disbursement billing and payment.
• Ensure compliance with both internal billing procedures, external client requirements and the Rules of the Law Society of Alberta.
• Supporting the team with basic Legal Assistant or administrative duties, we are a smaller team and need everyone to help out.
