The Underwriting Manager leads a team of Individual Insurance Life and Health Underwriters. What will you do?

• Lead and coach underwriters in their service delivery and development
• Manage workload and priorities while promoting team work and a positive environment
• Promote a sales culture while managing quality, service and expenses
• Resolve and learn from escalated cases and areas of challenge
• Using lean management concepts and methodology, identify areas for continuous improvement and implement using problem solving activities
• Contribute to the leadership team by providing input on planning and priorities
• New Business operations is a dynamic working environment with staff in multiple locations
• Key relationships include the sales force as well as project, process and training teams within New Business

What do you need to succeed?

• Proven leadership experience with a willingness to pursue Underwriting Education or an Underwriting background
• A passion for customer service and a good understanding of the advisor's role and challenges
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated results in continuous improvement (speed, quality, cost and finesse )
• Able to lead change and act as a change agent
• Analytical and decision making skills
• Ability to work independently
• Capability to delegate effectively
• Ability to interpret, assimilate and apply numerous guidelines, reports and data to manage and set priorities
• Highly developed leadership skills for coaching and feedback
• Results focused, pro-active and service oriented

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
