Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Bilingual Payroll Specialist with strong North American payroll expertise to join our team. This role is hands-on and highly detailed, supporting full-cycle payroll operations and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all payroll activities. The ideal candidate brings in-depth experience with Quebec payroll, unionized environments, and a solid understanding of payroll systems, preferably Dayforce.
Key Responsibilities:
Process full-cycle payroll, including Quebec hourly and salaried employees.
Serve as backup for payroll operations, including processing and journal entries for all payrolls.
Provide guidance to internal teams on payroll procedures and best practices.
Manage internal and external payroll audits and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
Oversee payroll accruals such as vacation and complete year-end reconciliations.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including year-end filings and Workers Compensation.
Administer payroll for unionized employees in alignment with collective agreements.
Support payroll system initiatives, including system understanding, optimization, and troubleshooting (Dayforce preferred).
Contribute to payroll-related projects and ongoing process improvement initiatives.
Travel occasionally as required.
Qualifications:
5+ years of North American payroll experience including Quebec.
Biligual (French/English) required.
Experience working with payroll in a unionized environment.
Knowledge of the CCQ (Commission de la construction du Quebec).
Strong understanding of Quebec payroll rules, compliance, and legislation.
Thorough knowledge of payroll compliance, reconciliations, year-end processes, and filings.
Experience using payroll systems; Dayforce is preferred.
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills with a professional and approachable demeanor.
Assertive and comfortable communicating needs and updates to leadership.
Collaborative and able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Adaptable and willing to travel periodically.
